How long and how many times a week is a typical session?
Sessions are usually 50 minutes. Most clients are seen once or twice a week in the beginning, then, as time goes on, less frequently.
How long will I be in counseling?
The length of time clients are in counseling depends on the nature of their presenting issue and the goals they will want to achieve. Some clients have a specific issue that can be worked through in a short period of time. While other clients have concerns that may require long term counseling.
How much are your Fees and do you take insurance?
Your fee will depend on the kinds of services you request. My fees range from $80-$100 for each 50 minute session. Individual sessions are $80 and marriage therapy is $100. I do have a sliding scale and I am willing to reduce my fees.
Do I need to take medications?
As a counselor and therapist, I am not legally allowed to prescribe medications. However, based on a joint assessment of problems you are facing, it may be advisable to consult with a psychiatrist to determine whether medication is warranted. Typically, clients see someone under their health insurance coverage or I can refer you to a psychiatrist.
